The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Helsinki, Finland early on Monday in the first phase of a trip to several countries in the Scandinavian region, heading a political delegation.

Iran Press/Europe: Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to meet with the Finland's president, minister of foreign trade and development, and the foreign minister later on the day.

In a meeting with Finnish officials, which their government has recently taken over the Presidency of the European Council, Zarif is expected to discuss bilateral relations, international and regional issues, in particular maintening the Iran's Nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX), IRNA reported.

INSTEX is a European special-purpose vehicle (SPV) established in January 2019. Its mission is to facilitate non-USD transactions and non-SWIFT to avoid breaking US sanctions.

Zarif will leave for Sweden and Norway from Finland.
