Iranian thrower Haddadi earns 2020 Olympic quota

An Iranian discus thrower who has won a gold medal is now certain of a place at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian discus thrower, Ehsan Haddadi could break the Olympic record which currently stands at 66 meters.

Earlier, Haddadi won gold as well as his sixth Asian title with a throw of 65.95 meters in the competitions in the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships in Qatar, IRNA reported.

Haddadi had already claimed a gold medal in Triton Invitational in Chula Vista, Southern California, the US, with a throw of 67.19m, in which Sam Mattis won the silver medal and Reggie Jagers won a bronze.

The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and commonly known as Tokyo 2020, is an upcoming international multi-sport event that is scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020, in Tokyo, Japan. 104/211
