The top commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forthrightly condemned Pompeo's speech about Iran, and emphasized that Iran "will give a firm solid response to the American official".
Pompeo's speech was billed a "new US strategy towards Iran" after Washington's unilateral exit from the nuclear deal despite strong opposition from its European allies.
Meanwhile, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has said the world cannot accept Washington making unilateral decisions for all nations, or dictating its policies to other nations.
Rouhani's remark came just a day after Mike Pompeo delivered an anti-Iran speech, dubbed "a New Iran Strategy", in which he promised the United States would apply unprecedented financial pressure on Tehran, by slapping the "strongest sanctions in history".
EU, Germany, France and Britain have invited Russia and China to discuss the future of the Iran nuclear deal, discussing ways of preserving the agreement, in Vienna, Austria. The United States has not been invited to the meeting.
