(IP) - Iran and Uzbekistan cooperate to run joint sports camps.

On the sidelines of the 7th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS VII) hosted by Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hamid Sajjadi, the Minister of Sports and Youth of Iran, met on Monday with his Uzbek counterpart Adham Ikramov.

In the meeting, the two sports ministers referred to the common grounds between Iran and Uzbekistan and welcomed the Iranian-Uzbek cooperation in sports.  

Iran's Sajjadi referred to the programs of the country for the development of women's sports, saying many programs have been carried out in Iran, which has paved the way for showing Iranian female athletes' abilities while maintaining Islamic values.

Adham Ikramov, for his part, stressed the role of the memoranda of understanding in expanding Tehran-Tashkent sports relations.

The Uzbek Sports Minister welcomed the suggestions of the Iranian side and said that handball, volleyball, and basketball are the areas prone to cooperation between the two sides.
