Iran Press/Europe: During his meeting on Thursday with the Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Fernando Arias, Gholamhossein Dehghani said the nondiscriminatory implementation of all Chemical Weapons Convention provisions is what the international community expects and demands.
He said the convention stresses the peaceful use of chemical equipment and materials, removing the barriers on the way of the active trade between the member states, and not practicing economic sanctions.
Dehghani pointed to the impact of US economic terrorism against Iran on providing medicines and medical equipment for treatment of victims of chemical weapons, particularly the chemically-injured veterans of the eight-year Iraqi imposed war against Iran, as well as providing the material for producing some medicines, saying the policy goes against the charter of United Nations and the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
The 24th conference of the Chemical Weapons Convention member states began last Monday at the Hague, in the Netherlands and ends Friday.
Iran also joined the Executive Council of Chemical Weapons Convention Organization at the 24th annual conference on Thursday.
The NGOs active in working with Iran's chemical victims organized an exhibition on the sidelines of the conference to highlight the plight of the victims of chemical weapons. 214/211
