Iran Press/Europe: In an interview with French daily Le Figaro, Zarif said Russia is a perfect political and trade partner for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Russia understands Iran very well, as Moscow itself has been slapped with strict US sanctions, the top Iranian diplomat noted.
He said Washington is trying to pressure Iran’s neighbours to implement the anti-Tehran sanctions, saying, however, that such tactics will get nowhere.

Zarif also touched on the close cooperation between Tehran, Moscow and Ankara for the settlement of the conflict in Syria, emphasizing the necessity for reconstruction of Syria, restoration of unity and independence to the Arab country, and removal of all terrorists who still remain on Syrian territory.
Foreign minister Zarif also stressed that Tehran has been helping Syria in its on-going war against terrorism at the request of the government in Damascus, saying the entire world acknowledges Iran’s role in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

Iran and Russia are both cooperating with the Syrian government, providing crucial assistance to Damascus in its on-going war against Western-and-Saudi-backed Takfiri terrorism in the Arab country.
According to reports, the war in Syria has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders. 209/103
