IP- The parliament speakers of Iran and Egypt met on Wednesday in Johannesburg, South Africa to discuss plans to enhance relations.

Iran PressAfrica: Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Hanafy Ali El-Gebali held a meeting on the margins of the 9th Parliamentary Forum of BRICS which is underway in Johannesburg.

 The Iranian speaker emphasized the importance of promoting cooperation among Islamic nations in West Asia and North Africa while describing Egypt as a major influential Muslim state. 

According to Ghalibaf, closer parliamentary interaction between Iran and Egypt will contribute to the sustainable development of relations among Muslim nations and the settlement of regional problems.

For his part, Gebali said the participation of Egypt and Iran in the BRICS forum indicates that the two countries are on the right track to strengthen cooperation.

Gebali invited the speaker of the Iranian Parliament to Cairo to discuss broadening relations.
