Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Thursday in response to the recent embarrassing remarks of US regime officials about Lt General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' Quds Force that "It is not uncommon for professional criminals to seek to justify their crimes, but what is doubly unfortunate and indicative of the arrogant nature of the United States is how they react rudely to the United Nations and special rapporteur."
Emphasizing that Martyr Soleimani has been the most effective figure against the spread of terrorism and violent extremism, especially ISIS in the region and the world, Mousavi noted: "The assassination of the national hero and defender of peace and security in the region proved that ISIS and terrorism are part of the US game to plunder the West Asian region, and the country's claim to fight against terrorism is completely baseless."
The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: "In the greatness of Martyr Soleimani, it is enough {to say that} the cruelest people on earth and the most law-abiding regimes in the world were his enemies."
Mousavi also stressed: Members of the United Nations and the UN Human Rights Council must act responsibly to address these dangerous acts, which are a clear violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations and human rights, and prevent the normalization of bullying, lawlessness and organized murder committed. by the US regime.
Agnès Callamard, the UN special rapporteur on human rights, last Tuesday called the US crime of assassinating Lt.Gen Soleimani and his associates near Baghdad airport as "illegal" and a "violation of international law."
