Iran's Foroughi bags gold medal in air pistol

Tokyo (IP) - Javad Foroughi won first place in the Tokyo Olympics air pistol final and won the first Olympic medal in the history of Iranian shooting.

Iran PressAsia: Javad Foroughi, the only Iranian representative in the final of the men's air pistol at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics won a gold medal to register the first medal in the history of Iranian shooting at the Olympic Games in his name.

He had already reached the final in the preliminary stage with a score of 580.25 and is in fifth place. Foroughi is a famous athlete in the Iranian squad.

Athletes from Iran, India, China, Germany, Ukraine, Korea and Serbia participated in the final of this event, with the Serbian player bagged silver medal and Chinese Zhang Wei stood third.

Foroughi is ranked first in the World Federation rankings by winning two gold medals in the World Cup in India and Croatia.

Najmeh Khedmati and Hanieh Rostamian, the national shooting team of Iran, are also present in the hall to watch Javad Foroughi's contest closely.

Iran's shooting at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has six representatives in the two categories of rifle and pistol. Previously, Fatemeh Karamzadeh and Armina Sadeghian were ranked 23rd and 30th in women's air rifles.

Mahyar Sedaghat in the men's air rifle and Hanieh Rostamian in the women's air pistol will be on the line of fire tomorrow on the third day of the competition.
