Dushanbe (IP): Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for a Tehran-Islamabad consensus on how to restore stability and lasting peace in Afghanistan.

Iran PressAsia: Stating that Iran and Pakistan, as Afghanistan's neighbors are suffering the most from the country's situation, Hossein Amir- Abdollahian stressed the need for a Tehran-Islamabad consensus on how to restore stability and lasting peace in Afghanistan.

Following bilateral consultations with his counterparts at the 21st Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Amir- Abdollahian met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi on Friday where the situation in the region and Afghanistan was discussed.

During the meeting, Amir- Abdollahian expressed concern over the situation of the Afghan people and the security-political situation in the country, saying that this unfavorable situation was the result of US interventions and irresponsible actions towards Afghanistan.

Recalling that Iran and Pakistan, as Afghanistan's neighbors, are suffering the most from the situation in Afghanistan, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed the need for a Tehran-Islamabad consensus on how to restore stability and lasting peace in Afghanistan.

In this meeting, Amir- Abdollahian called for the establishment of stability and security in Afghanistan under the shadow of the establishment of an inclusive government with the participation of representatives of all ethnic groups.

In the end, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran invited his Pakistani counterpart to participate in the next meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's neighbors in Tehran.

During the meeting, the Pakistani Foreign Minister praised the role of neighbors in helping Afghanistan achieve the desired situation and appreciated Iran's efforts and initiatives in this regard.

According to the agreement of the Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, China, Russia, and Pakistan, a joint statement of the Foreign Ministers of the four countries on the situation in Afghanistan will be issued today.
