Iran Press /Iran news: Today’s Expediency Council session addressed articles 5 and 8, as article 1 of the bill had been previously amended, according to a member of the Expediency Council, Gholamreza Mesbahi Moghdam.
The amendment bill had gone through intensive discussions at the economic commission, followed by review sessions chaired by Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and deputy minister of economy and vice-president for legal affairs, Iran Press reported.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the Guardian Council said on Saturday that most of the flaws or ambiguities that led to the rejection of the bill on Iran's accession to the International Countering Financing of Terrorism Convention (CFT) by the Council, remained unchanged.
Iranian lawmakers on May 8, passed amendment bills to the existing Law of Anti-Money Laundering and Law of Combating Financing of Terrorism.
The original AML/CTF bill was ratified by Majlis and subsequently approved by the Guardians Council–the constitutional and Sharia watchdog–in March 2016 after it was rejected once and revised by the judiciary.
