Iran Press/Europe: Speaking to La Razón, the Spanish newspaper about the strict rules of financial transactions pertaining to Iran, Hassan Qashqavi said that the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) doesn't allow international banks and companies across the world to help Iran in buying medicine and medical equipment.
He underlined that this practice is a "blatant oppression" which completely contradicts with humanitarian principles.
Iran's Ambassador to Spain described the outbreak of coronavirus as a tool for the US government to increase its 'maximum pressure' against Iran, saying, "they use their media empire's proxies such as Persian language channels, to produce fake news and baseless reports, and their goal is to divert public opinions from their inhuman actions."
Earlier, Iran's envoys to UK and Russia also criticized the US unjust and unilateral sanctions against Iran and its adverse effects on normal Iranian citizens.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia said in a statement the need for the integrity of the international community in fighting with coronavirus, saying "regardless of political disputes and geographical differences, all countries should resist in front of this disastrous disease and cooperate to mitigate its destructive humane, economic and social effects."
In a separate statement, the Iranian Ambassador to London has called for British media to increase public awareness regarding the inhuman nature of US anti-Iranian sanctions.
Hamid Baeidinejad said: "In a letter to UK media, we requested them to urgently increase international awareness regarding the inhuman nature of US sanctions impeding Iran to mobilize all its resources to fight coronavirus." 212/ 104
