Iranian Foreign Minister held talks on the phone with his Maltese counterpart on Monday and exchanged views on the need to expedite the adoption of a political solution to prevent the spillover of war in Gaza.

Iran PressIran news: The Iranian foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian held talks with the Foreign Minister of Malta Ian Borgon the phone on Monday and exchanged views on the need to expedite the adoption of a political solution to prevent the spillover of war in Gaza.

The Iranian foreign minister stated, “We are against the carnage of women, children, and civilians anywhere in the world.”

He reiterated, “Unfortunately, there is no proportionality between the Hamas liberation movement’s actions and the repeated raids and war crimes by the regime that has occupied Al-Quds.”

The Iranian foreign minister also referred to the framework of an initiative proposed by Brazil to adopt a resolution on following up on a political solution to stop the attacks on civilians and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

He expressed hope that the resolution would be approved with the support of the United Nations Security Council’s non-permanent members to help the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, noting that his country has become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Borg underlined that the continuation of the conflict and the expansion of war is unacceptable.

He also stressed that efforts would continue in order to reach a political solution, expressing hope that “we won’t witness the expansion of the war in the region.” 219
