Iran Press/ Iran News: Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad governor Hossein Kalantari said, "With the efforts of the Relief Forces, IRGC, the army, Basij, the environment forces, natural resources, and other fire departments and agencies, the fire in the Khayiz protected area, which began on Thursday, (May 28), was completely contained.
He praised the cooperation of all forces in the use of firefighting equipment, noting, "During these five days, all facilities were used to control the fire in the protected area."
He added, "The fire was contained with the participation of more than 500 people and rescue workers around the clock."
The director-general of the environment of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Seyyed Assadollah Hashemi also referred to the efforts of all forces in extinguishing the fire, saying: "The crisis was contained after five days of relentless efforts. No information has been obtained about the amount of fire and damages yet."
He added that "the amount of damage will be estimated and informed by experts."
Khayiz protected area, with an area of more than 33,000 hectares, is home to animals such as leopards, foxes, wolves, with the vegetation of oaks, wild almonds, and medicinal herbs.
Khayiz protected area is known as one of the most important and suitable habitats of wild goat.
