Iran Press/Iran News: Ayatollah Sadegh Amoil Larijani, speaking at the start of Saturday's session of the Experience Council, called Friday's attacks on two New Zealand mosques as a 'tragic and horrible incident', saying the main reason behind the terrorist action is the Islamophobia campaign that Western countries wage despite their human rights claims.
The Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council noted the double standards of Western media outlets like the BBC for refusing to call New Zealand attacks an act of 'terrorism' while the BBC and other Western mainstream media in the recent stabbing incident in Britain call that ‘terrorist attack’, Mehr News Agency reported.
The former Judiciary chief also called on Muslim countries not to stay silent in relation to the massacring of innocent Muslims and to take a stand against the double standards of the West.
Ayatollah Amoli Larijani expressed his condolences to the families of the New Zealand mosque attack victims and wished a speedy recovery for those who survived the attack and the injured.
On Friday, 15 March, armed gunmen attacked Masjid Al Noor mosque and Linwood Masjid Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.
49 people were killed, and at least 50 were injured, in Friday's terror attacks in New Zealand.
