Tehran (IP) - In the meeting between Iranian and Chinese Foreign Ministers, the 25-year comprehensive document on the Iran-China strategic partnership was finalized and inked on Saturday in the Iranian capital.

Iran PressIran News: During a ceremony on Saturday, the Iranian and the Chinese Foreign Ministers signed a 25-year comprehensive document on the Iran-China strategic partnership.

The Iranian Chinese Foreign Ministers met on Saturday with each other, discussing issues of bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues.

Welcoming Wang Yi, Mohammad Javad Zarif pointed to the longstanding relations between Tehran and Beijing and called China the friend of Iran's tough times. 

With regard to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Zarif emphasized that the US must fully live up to its commitments to the international agreement, adding that the removal of the sanctions against Iran could pave the way for the full implementation of the JCPOA.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also referred to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in China as a significant event, rejecting political efforts to downplay the international event which would be hosted by China. 

The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for his part congratulated Iranian Nowruz occasion and said the relations between the two countries reached the level of strategic partnership and that China sought to fully improve relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The signing of the roadmap for strategic cooperation between the two countries reflected Beijing's willingness to regulate relations with Iran at the highest possible level, he noted. 

The 25-year document on comprehensive cooperation between Iran and China was finalized Saturday in a meeting held in the Iranian capital between Leader's advisor and Tehran's special envoy for strategic relations with Beijing Ali Larijani and China's visiting Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Also, on Saturday, Wang met with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani.

The top Chinese diplomat is in Tehran for a two-day visit.

The Sino-Iranian Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was announced in a joint statement during a Chinese President Xi Jinping visit to Tehran in 2016.

The cooperation roadmap consists of 20 articles covering Tehran-Beijing ties in “Political,” “Executive Cooperation,” “Human and Cultural,” “Judiciary, Security and Defense,” and “Regional and International” domains, according to the statement released back then.
