Iran, China FMs confer on bilateral ties, Afghanistan

In a phone conversation with Iran's foreign minister, the Chinese foreign minister discussed bilateral relations and Afghanistan issues.

Iran PressAsia: The Chinese foreign minister made the phone conversation during his visit to Egypt. 

On Monday, China Radio International (CRI) reported that during the phone call, Wang Yi conveyed Beijing's appreciation for the positive contribution of President Rouhani and the Iranian government to the development of Sino-Iranian relations over the past eight years.
He has highlighted that China is willing to work with President-elect Ebrahim Raisi and the new Iranian administration to protect better the common interests of China, Iran, and developing countries.
He expressed his country's appreciation for Iran for supporting China on issues of key interest and noted that China would continue to help Iran maintain its sovereignty and national dignity and defend its legal rights and interests.
Zarif also thanked China for its support to Iran in the fight against COVID-19 and the provision of vaccines and anti-Coronavirus products and expressed hope that Iran would strengthen its cooperation with China against the epidemic.
He said Iran attaches great importance to relations with China and believes that these relations would deepen even more after the new Iranian administration took office.
Following the talks, the foreign ministers also exchanged views on issues such as the situation in Afghanistan.
