Tehran (IP) - The Head of the Especial Committee for Pursuing the Case of Lt. Gen. Soleimani's Assassination says the US must extradite the perpetrators of the crime to Iran.

Iran Press / Iran news: It was on January 3, 2020, at 01:20 in the morning when Lt. Gen. Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Second-in-Command Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport, authorized by the former US President Donald Trump.

In a tweet on Saturday, Abbasali Kadkhodaei wrote: "Under the 1973 Convention, the US must take appropriate measures to either prosecute suspects for the assassination of persons protected by the Conv."

Kadkhodaei noted that the US must extradite criminals for prosecution in the state the victim belonged to it.

"Will the US fulfill its obligations?" he asked.

General Soleimani was assassinated by the US while he was in Baghdad at the official invitation of the Iraqi government.
