Iran calls on UN to investigate attack on oil tanker SABITI

The Iranian diplomatic mission to the United Nations asked the organization to contribute to the investigation of the terrorist attack on the Iranian oil tanker SABITI.

Iran Press/ America: The Iranian diplomatic mission to the UN sent a letter to the UN on Monday, stressing that Tehran has started its investigation on the terrorist attack on the Iranian oil tanker SABITI which took place recently in the Red Sea.

In the letter sent by the Iranian representative in New York Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Secretary-General of the UN Antonio Guterres has been requested to use the organization’s experts in contributing to the probe.

According to the letter, Iran emphasized that the attack on the Iranian oil tanker was carried out by a government entity and is considered an act of terrorism.

Iranian oil tanker SABITI was targeted on October 11 near the Saudi port of Jeddah in the Red Sea in two separate explosions, about half an hour from each other, which led to damage, but the oil spill was quickly controlled.

The National Iranian Tanker Company confirmed on Monday that SABITI oil tanker which had been attacked in the Red Sea two weeks ago has now entered Iranian territorial waters.
