Iran Press/ Iran news: Referring to Saddam's regime's war crimes against the Iranian nation, Mohammad Javad Zarif said: "In the face of Saddam's crimes, we must see what the world did against it."
Speaking on Tuesday at the International Conference on the Legal-International Claims of the Holy Defense, Zarif added: "It should be noted that international organizations do not have a good record in defending human rights, and during the Iran-Iraq war, the UN did not even use its power and means to condemn Saddam's invasion of Iran."
Iran, a pioneer in establishing regional security
"Iran was the first country to propose a plan for the security of the region," he said, adding: "In 1985, Iran requested by Mr. Velayati that a security system be established in the Persian Gulf region."
"The Hormoz Peace Plan is not a claim today, but many years ago we demanded establishing security in the region, and with the Hormoz Peace Endeavour, we have declared that the security of the region must be ensured with respect for the rights of countries and without foreign interference."
Addressing the countries of the region, Zarif voiced Iran's readiness to shake hands with its neighbors. "Some people think that weapons bring security, but it won't," he concluded.
The International Conference on the Legal-International Claims of the Holy Defense was held on Tuesday with the attendance of the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Chief of Iran's Judiciary Ebrahim Raisi, Commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force Brigadier General Esmail Ghaani, Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Mohamad Baqeri, Top Military Aide to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi and ambassadors and military attachés of various countries.
