Iran Press/Europe: "Received a letter from @JZarif on Flight PS752. Important Iran shed light on this tragic event and promised full & proper investigation," he wrote in his Twitter account on Saturday referring to the letter sent to him by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
"All steps need to be taken for such a catastrophe never to happen again. My condolences go to those who lost their loved ones. #IranPlaneCrash," he added.
A Boeing 737-800 plane belonging to Ukraine International Airlines crashed near Tehran minutes after the take-off from Imam Khomeini Airport on Wednesday as it turned out that it was mistakenly targeted by air defense batteries.
All the 167 passengers and 9 crew members were killed in the crash, and Iran has accepted unintended shooting down of the place and welcomed international cooperation to clarify the incident.
EU's Lead spokesperson for the external affairs Peter Stano has acknowledged Iranian leaders' statements in taking responsibility for the fatal accident.
"EU acknowledges Iran's statements on taking responsibility 4 #ukraine plane crash We expect continued full cooperation & comprehensive, transparent investigation in line w/intl.standards," he tweeted.
Iranian Foreign Ministry has said a working group was established following the order by President Hassan Rouhani to facilitate the affairs of the 176 victims of the Ukrainian Airlines plane.
"My colleagues in the foreign ministry—and in embassies, missions and consulates worldwide—share the nation’s grief in the aftermath of the tragedy and stand ready to offer any needed assistance to families of the victims," Zarif said in a Twitter message.
