Tehran (IP) - The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance says ICESCO should seriously confront the desecration, put it on its agenda, and condemn it.

Iran PressIran News: The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili, has sent a formal letter of protest to the ICESCO cultural organization. He expressed his desire to see prompt and effective action taken in response.

The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO, formerly ISESCO) is a specialized organization that operates under the aegis of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is concerned with fields of education, science, culture, and communication in Islamic countries in order to support and strengthen relations among Member States. 

When asked by Iran Press about the specifics of his letter to the Secretary General of ICESCO, in which he denounced the Quran's insult, Esmaeili replied that Isseco is a body that is affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).

He explained that he wrote to ICESCO, urging them to take serious action to condemn the desecration of the Holy Quran and make it a top priority.

He said: I called the ICESCO extraordinary session to take place in Tehran, and attended by the ministers of culture of Islamic countries.
