Iran Press/Iran news: Arbaeen walk 2019 will be held on Saturday (19 October 2019) all across Iran for those who could not participate in the Great Arbaeen March from Najaf to Karbala this year.
Organisers of the march say citizens of Tehran along with people from other cities of Iran, would walk on different routes on the Day of Arbaeen all across the country. In Tehran, vast crowds of mourners converge on the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abdol-Azim Hassani in south Tehran (near Shahr-e-Ray).
According to an Iran Press report, on Thursday, the head of the information and cyberspace of the Arbaeen Headquarters Mohammed Ali Anoush stated that 700 journalists and correspondents from various media outlets were covering this year's Great Arbaeen March.
Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH).
Every year, huge numbers and massive crowds of Shia mourners flock into the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Chief of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (PBUH), is located, to perform mourning rituals. This year the Arba'een pilgrimage falls on Saturday 19 October.
