Japan Prime minister said that leaders of G20 countries have expressed concern over rising tensions around Iran.

Iran Press/Asia: Japan is ready to contribute to reducing tensions in the Middle East, including the situation with Iran, Prime Minister Abe Shinzo said at a press conference following the results of the G20 summit in Osaka.

Commenting on the issue of journalists, Abe said that during the summit many countries had touched upon the situation around Iran, NHK reported.

“The growth of tension in this region is disturbing,” said the Prime Minister of Japan, recalling that earlier in June he had visited Iran, where he met with leadership of the country.

Abe said that during the summit, the leaders of the G20 countries expressed their readiness to help reduce tensions in the Middle East: “Including Japan, as a country that has good relations with the EU and the US.”

The Group of 20 industrialised nations (G20) began their 14th summit in Osaka Japan on Friday, with a focus on global trade.

The member countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Britain and the United States.
