Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has launched a military exercise in the Persian Gulf. The drills are aimed at showcasing the country’s defensive capabilities, and ensuring combat readiness of Iran's armed forces, Iran Press reported.
Rapid response units of IRGC, special forces, rangers, airborne forces, including combat support, reconnaissance and unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAVs), engineering units, high-precision medium-range missiles, and the Zolfaghar fast attack craft are taking part in the final stage of 'Great Prophet 12' military drills .
Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour in a press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of massive war game pointed to 'strategically defensive' aims of 'Great Prophet' military exercise, and said: Iran has not invaded any country and has never been a threat.
"We pose no threat to any country but if the enemies seek to implement their malicious intentions and attack us we will be absolutely aggressive and attack the enemies with all our might, and we are practicing these tactics in these exercises.”
Commenting on US president Donald Trump's decision to withdraw military forces from Syria, Brigadier General Pakpour said: "This withdrawal shows America's inability to overrun the Middle East region."

“When the enemy miscalculates and faces problems in its actions, it revises its strategy,” IRGC Ground Forces Commander told reporters.
“Accordingly, the Americans have come to the conclusion that they can exercise power neither in Iraq and Syria nor in the entire region,” the commander added.
The remarks came as US President Donald Trump, in a video posted on Twitter on Wednesday, said he has begun what will be a total withdrawal of US troops from Syria, declaring they have succeeded in their mission to defeat ISIS and were no longer needed in the country. 101/205/211
