Iran Press/Europe: "On more than one occasion we have called for maximum restraint," Maja Kocijancic, EU spokesperson for foreign policy, told a press conference on Wednesday.
"Violence is completely unacceptable and it is most unfortunate that we are seeing the first victims of that in Lebanon," she said according to Kuwait News Agency.
According to media reports, a protester was shot and killed after an altercation with Lebanese soldiers near Beirut.
"It is also imperative that a new government is composed without delay and all necessary reforms are brought in. Civil society should also be involved in inclusive dialogue," the spokesperson added.
The protests, expressing outrage with an establishment, have buffeted Lebanon recently despite reforms meant to appease discontent and reassure Western donors that have pledged badly needed aid but not yet disbursed it.
