Iran Press/Africa: Security forces confronted the demonstrators who shouting "Leave Sisi," and trying to approach Cairo's Tahrir Square, where mass protests started in 2011 against Egypt's ex-President Hosni Mubarak, Reuters reported.
According to a video posted on Twitter, demonstrators shouted many of the same slogans that became familiar during the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings across the Middle East and North Africa.
Protesters also gathered in Alexandria, Suez, and Gharbiya, calling for toppling of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's regime.
Anti-Sisi hashtags had been trending for weeks on social media amid increasing frustration with poor economic conditions and lack of freedoms in Egypt.
