The intelligence unit of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Iran’s Fars province managed to identify the operational and media network of “Daesh Khorasan”, arresting its main element in the southern province.

Iran PressIran news: The announcement was made Monday by the public relations office of the IRGC’s branch in Fars, known as Sepah Fajr.

It said that the main element of the operational and media network of “Daesh Khorasan”, an affiliate of the Daesh terrorist group, was under intelligence surveillance since 2019.

The operative was active in some of Iranian provinces, including Tehran, where he tried to persuade extremist elements to join the terrorist group, the Sepah Fajr announcement said.

The Daesh terror group is responsible for a number of attacks in Iran in recent years. The attacks include a shooting incident at the Shah Cheragh holy shrine in Shiraz, the capital city of Fars Province, in October 2022 that claimed the lives of 13 civilians.

Lieutenant General "Qassem Soleimani", the former commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, together with "Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis", the vice-chairman of the Popular Mobilization of Iraq (Al-Hashd al-Shaabi), known as the generals of the fight against Daesh terror, and 8 of his companions, on Friday morning, January 3, 2020, near the Baghdad airport, in a terrorist attack by the White House and by "Donald Trump's order", then President of the United States, was assassinated by the missiles fired by US army drones.
