Tehran (IP) - The senior advisor to Iran's foreign minister for political affairs, met with UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen on Sunday and called on the international community to intervene to end the war and lift the inhuman siege on Yemenis.

Iran PressIran news: Following Tehran's consultation to resolve the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, Ali Asghar Khaji held talks with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen Hans Grundberg via video conference.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has termed the Yemeni crisis as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

The UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen also stressed the need for UN assistance to lift the siege, establish a ceasefire and resume political talks in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, invaded Yemen in March 2015.

The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed tens of thousands and displaced millions of Yemenis, destroying over 85 percent of the country's infrastructure.
