Tokyo (IP) - The Iranian super-heavyweight para-weightlifter snatched the silver medal in Tokyo Paralympics 2021.

Iran PressAsia: On Monday, Mansour Pourmirzaei of Iran lifted a 241-kg weight in the men's over 107kg category and snatched the silver medal in the 2020 Paralympic Games.

He stood in second place behind Jordan’s Jamil El shebli, who lifted 241kg too but won the gold medal due to his lighter bodyweight.

The bronze medal went to Iraqi Faris Al-Ageeli with a lift of 228kg.

Pourmirzaei’s medal was Iran’s fifth medal in powerlifting in the 2020 Paralympic Games.

Pourmirzaei is Siamand Rahman's heir in the men's over 107kg category after the latter passed away in March 2020.

He dedicated his medal to the late Siamand Rahman, who had won two gold medals in the class in 2012 and 2016.
