Iran Press/ America: In this virtual conference, the speakers examined the role of Lieutenant-general Qasem Soleimani in the fight against terrorism and explained his influence on the resistance movement and anti-imperialist currents in the world and Latin America.
Emphasizing the role of Lt Gen Soleimani in ensuring peace and security in the region and the fight against terrorism, Hossein Gharibi, Iran's ambassador to Brazil, called the assassination of this great commander and his companions a criminal act, noting: "This act which is against the law and humanity will never be forgotten by the people of Iran and the freedom seekers of the world."
Lt Gen Qasem Soleimani, the late commander of the IRGC's Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy Commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization (Al-Hashd al-Shabi), along with eight others, were assassinated on January 3, 2020, in an airstrike by US forces near Baghdad airport in Iraq.
