The EU foreign policy chief and the Iraqi foreign minister met in Brussels to discuss developments in West Asia, the challenges of confronting the ISIS terrorist group, and other issues in the region.

Iran Press/ Europe: During a meeting in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on Thursday, EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed the importance of continuing co-operation on reforms in Iraq, including on security issues and early parliamentary elections.

The EU foreign policy chief said the EU desires to strengthen bilateral interaction, accelerating the Iraqi-European dialogue through the full implementation of the cooperation and partnership agreement with Iraq.

Borrell also emphasized the support of Iraq in the face of challenges of confronting the ISIS terrorist group.

Borrell also called on Iraq to continue diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Persian Gulf region and strengthening a political solution in the region.

The Iraqi foreign minister arrived in Brussels, Capital of Belgium, on Wednesday morning for an official visit and has met with a number of European officials.
