Container shipping from Gilan ports increases by 50%

Anzali (IP) - Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organisation of Gilan Province announced an increase of about 50% in the container shipping of this province's ports in the last 9 months compared to the previous Iranian year.

Iran PressIran News: Hamid Reza Abayi stated that 5,620 containers had been moved in Gilan ports, of which Anzali's share was 4,150, Astara's share was 185, and Caspian Port's share was 1,288 containers in the last 9 months.

He noted that 60% of the container shipments in Gilan Province were from Anzali port, 12% from Astara port, and about 27% from Caspian port.

He pointed out that the use of Ro-Ro (roll on-roll off) ships is on the agenda for the optimal use of the conditions of the land border of Astara.

According to Abayi, with the arrival of the Ro-Ro ship at the Anzali port, about 50 trucks from the provinces of East and West Azarbaijan and Zanjan will move the ship's containers in the coming days.
