Iran Press/Asia: after US president accused Beijing of derailing denuclearization talks with North Korea,China says Donald Trump is "twisting the truth" .
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Thursday the US president's logic “is not easily understood by all.”
“A lot of people, like me, feel that the US is first in the world when it comes to twisting the truth,” she said, deriding Trump's logic as "irresponsible" and "absurd".
She urged the US to look at itself instead of shifting the blame on others, and expressed hope that Washington could play a constructive and positive role in resolving the North Korea issue.
Her comments came after Trump claimed China was hurting rapprochement between the US and North Korea.
“I think that China makes it much more difficult in terms of our relationship with North Korea," Trump told on Wednesday.
The US president separately said he "feels strongly that North Korea is under tremendous pressure from China because of our major trade disputes with the Chinese Government."
"At the same time, we also know that China is providing North Korea with ... considerable aid, including money, fuel, fertilizer and various other commodities. This is not helpful!" he tweeted on Wednesday.
Trump last week blamed China for a lack of progress in the denuclearization talks, and the cancellation of an upcoming trip to North Korea's capital, Pyongyang, by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Beijing slammed Trump’s remarks as "irresponsible", saying the comments contradict "basic facts."
"The US statement is contrary to basic facts and is irresponsible. We are seriously concerned about this," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in a statement posted on the ministry's website on Saturday.
The ministry said it had made "stern representations" to the US side, and that it would continue to play a positive role in working toward denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.
Donald Trump recently claimed that North Korea was blowing up four of its big test sites and that a process of “total denuclearization ... has already started,” but officials like Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said there was no such evidence.
Recently, new report showed North Korea has not stopped its nuclear and missile programs in violation of United Nations sanctions, despite US bragging about the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The six-month confidential UN report by independent experts monitoring the implementation of UN sanctions was submitted to the Security Council North Korea sanctions committee late on Friday, Less than two months after a landmark U.S.-North Korea summit in Singapore.
Earlier, the United States called on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to act on his promise to give up nuclear weapons and said the world, including China and Russia, must continued to enforce sanctions until he does so.
