Iran Press/ Iran news: The official in charge of supervisory activities at customs offices in Khuzestan province, Gholamreza Balouti, has announced the resumption of normal importing and exporting activities at the Chazzabeh border crossing with Iraq.
Trucks and lorries were not allowed to pass through the Chazzabeh border to neighbouring Iraq from 7 October onwards, due to the huge influx of Arbaeen mourners heading for the cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq. However, Balouti announced that normal business activities have now resumed at the Chazzabeh border crossing.
"The necessary coordination has now been made with the Iraqi side so that the business center resumes its work," he said, adding that the customs center is ready to provide relevant services to exporters and manufacturers at the Chazzabeh commercial border.
Exporters of goods were also keen to reopen the commercial border at Chazzabeh, so the reopening of the border has taken place on the announced date, Balouti said.
