The secretary of Iran's supreme national security council, Ali Shamkhani, has reiterated that return of security to Syria and Iraq will set off alarm bells in Tel Aviv, it will mean the end of a golden period of security for the Zionist regime, and it will also mean the Palestinian issue, will once again become the number one issue of the Islamic world.

In an interview with IRIB on Sunday, Ali Shamkhani emphasized that Islamic resistance groups, and public opinion within the world of Islam knows better than anyone else that if you enter into negotiations with the Americans , and if you compromise, or retreat in the face of Israeli demands,  this will only embolden the Israelis to become more aggressive and more expansionist.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Shamkhani said it was a rare and humiliating situation for the Americans at the UN security council,  when their draft resolution failed to attract any support among the council members, and every member state rejected the draft.

Shamkhani said the  American-drafted resolution  blamed the Palestinian Hamas movement for the current deplorable situation in the Gaza strip, and every security council member rejected this idea, because it is patently untrue. The Americans were completely isolated within the security council, and they were totally humiliated.

On Thursday, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Washington will "unquestionably veto” the UN draft resolution calling for the protection of Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Out of the 15 UN Security Council members, Russia, France and China along with seven others voted in favor of the resolution on Friday, while four including Britain abstained.

The draft called for "the consideration of measures to guarantee the safety and protection of the Palestinian civilian population in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including in the Gaza Strip."

On Friday afternoon, a Kuwaiti sponsored resolution which called for protection of Palestinian civilians, particularly the Palestinians of Gaza, as well as a UN investigation of Israeli crimes in the occupied territories , received 11 votes in favour, but was vetoed by the United States, the only country to vote against the resolution.
