Iran Press/ Middle East: The bridge is known as the Salaam Bridge because this is where the pilgrims catch their first glimpse of the Golden Dome of of Hazrat Abul Fazl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), the valiant brother of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and the standard-bearer of Karbala.
From the bridge, they catch their first sight of the majestic and revered golden dome of the shrine of Hazrat Abul Fazl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), the valiant brother of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
As a sign of respect the pilgrims stand on the bridge and salute Hazrat Abul Fazl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and this is why the Bridge is known as Salaam Bridge (literary the Bridge of Peace or Salutation).
Tomorrow Saturday 19 October 2019 is the day of Arbaeen, marking forty days after the martyrdom of the Chief of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny).
