Iran Press/West Asia: Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced the agreement on the immediate election of a president for Lebanon.
Najib Mikati, after meeting with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, announced the agreement with him on the need to immediately elect a president for this country and said that "we agreed that a consensual president should be elected".
The Prime Minister of Lebanon said that Barry emphasized in this meeting that as soon as the ceasefire, he will announce the request to elect an agreed president.
Mikati announced today that the Lebanese government is ready to consider the issue of implementing UN Resolution 1701 sending the army to South Litani and implementing the international Arab cease-fire statement in Lebanon.
Saying that "difficult days are waiting for us", Mikati said that his government is facing a major displacement crisis of Lebanese people and a lack of facilities to meet their needs.

The Prime Minister of Lebanon also said yesterday that Beirut has no other option but a diplomatic solution and that the Lebanese army is ready to implement UN Resolution 1701 if the necessary conditions are met.
According to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Lebanon's Hezbollah must retreat to the northern bank of the Litani River to pave the way for the deployment of the Lebanese National Army and peacekeeping forces.
