Iran Press/Iran News: The inauguration ceremony of 56 rail fleet by the attendance of the Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami and Railway CEO Saeed Rasouli held in Tehran.
In a year that was named” surge in production” by the Islamic Revolution Leader, this project has been conducted with a total value of 125 billion tomans. This number had a 143% growth compared to the last year. All these cargo wagons, passenger wagons, and locomotives are made domestically.
Regarding export and import, Saeed Rasouli said, although we are in a critical period of coronavirus, railway by establishing disinfection tunnels could increase railway transportation and it had a 151% growth. We are still trying to develop the capacity more.
Mohammad Eslami said that this year is going to be much more secure, efficient, with economic activities for the railway system. We also tend to increase the speed of trains.
“Iranian people must forget those old and slow trains. We hope to build a 1200 km railway before the end of this government,” the minister highlighted.
