Iran Press/Europe: Addressing a UN Security Council Meeting on Yemen on Tuesday, Vassily Nebenzia hoped that conflicting parties find out futility of military confrontations and move toward political approach.
From the beginning of conflicts in Yemen, Russia has supported diplomatic settlement of the issues, he said, Iran Press reported.
Unfortunately, conflicts are still in place and humanitarian catastrophe is taking place in a wider scale, as millions of Yemenis are suffering from hunger and unable to buy medicine and necessary services, Nebenzia said.
He called on the UN Security Council to help guide disputes towards diplomatic settlement and an all-out ceasefire and send necessary aid to Yemen.
The US and its allies have charged Iran with interfering in Yemen, but have failed to mention anything about Saudi Arabia's four-year-long devastating war of aggression against Yemen.
Iran has strongly dismissed the claims on providing weapons to Houthis. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was quoted as saying in December, “Iran has not provided weapons to the Houthis (Ansarullah's movement) in Yemen."
Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries, has engaged in military aggression against Yemen and ground sieges, naval and air strikes since March 2015.
The war initiated by Saudi Arabia and its allies has killed more than 16,000 Yemeni people including thousands of women and children, injuring tens of thousands more, and displacing millions of Yemenis. 101/202
