Meanwhile, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that some 1,400 Palestinians shot by Israeli forces during “Great March of Return” protests in the occupied Gaza Strip face the possibility of “long-term disability.
The UN OCHA report, contributed by the World Health Organisation and the Disability Working Group, describes how Gaza’s “health sector has continued to struggle with the cumulative caseload of serious injuries, particularly those requiring long-term rehabilitation.
Palestinian protesters once again gathered at the border fence with Israel on Friday to take part in rallies along the border fence.
The Great March of Return rallies culminated on May 15 to mark what Palestinians refer to as the Nakba, or Catastrophe - a reference to the forced removal of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and villages to clear the way for the Israeli regime's establishment in 1948.
The mass Friday demonstrations have since continued.
