Parliament approves bill regarding citizenship for children born to an Iranian mother

Iran’s parliament on Monday approved the details of a bill that would allow children born to an Iranian mother to apply for citizenship.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s Parliament overwhelmingly passed outlines of a bill on Sunday to grant citizenship right to children born to an Iranian mother and foreign father.

188 lawmakers voted in favor of the bill, 20 against and three abstained, Iran Press reported.

The bill, which is considered a major breakthrough, would give tens of thousands of children access to social and health care services. 101/201
