Iranian, foreign officials and pro Palestine activists in a ceremony commemorated martyr Fathi Shaqaqi, the co-founder and Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement on Wednesday in Tehran.
Iran Press/Iran news: The commemoration ceremony of the martyr Fathi Shaghaghi, the founder of the Palestine Islamic Jihad Movement, was held at the Congress Hall of the Islamic Promotion Conference on the occasion of the World Congress of Military Leaders.
Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary-General of the Islamic Awakening Assembly, Zahra Mostafavi, Chairperson and Secretary-General of the Palestinian People's Conservative Party, Khalid Batash, member of the Palestine Islamic Jihad Movement and Osama Hamdan, leaders of the Palestine Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), were the main guests of the meeting, Iran Press reported.
Fathi Shaqaqi (1981–1995) was killed on 26 October 1995 in front of the Diplomat Hotel in Sliema, Malta by a hit team composed of two Mossad agents. The assassination happened when he was on his way back from Tripoli after visiting Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Islamic Jihad sources in Gaza confirmed that Shaqaqi had been traveling from Libya to his home in Damascus and made a stopover in Malta.
In the meeting to commemorate Palestinian Leader Fathi Shaqaqi, senior adviser to Iran’s Leader Ali Akbar Velayati warned that the Warsaw conference is aimed at paving the ground for establishing Israeli-Arab coalition to weaken Palestine.
Velayati pointed to the Warsaw conference, saying that the United States is after its hostile anti-Iranian aims in the event.
"The facts indicate that the conference is going to be an introduction to realizing and formalizing the interaction between Arab reactionary regimes and the Zionist regime, and also a beginning for the formation of Arabic-Hebrew coalition and undermining the issue of Palestine,” Velayati said.
“Deal of the Century is the newest and latest plot against the Palestinian nation. This is a failed strategy and acts as artificial ventilation to revive a regime which is experiencing its last days,” he also noted.
He went on to say that supporting the Palestinian nation has always been among fundamental and strategic values and aims of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Deputy Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad Movement Khaled al-Batsh in his turn, emphasized that the body will not let the Israeli regime to announce Jerusalem [al-Quds] at its capital.
“Resistance will never be stopped,” highlighted the senior official, adding that today, Islamic Jihad Movement “shines like a sun.”
All the Resistance movements in the region have shown that they are not leaving the scene, and all have committed themselves to fight the Zionist regime and defend the Palestinian issue, said Khaled al-Batsh, adding, “so, the Zionists must surrender to the rights of the Palestinians.” 101/ 211 /205
