Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said that under Former Pakistani cricket star Imran Khan's government Tehran would have a great relationship with Islamabad.

"We hope that under his (Imran Khan) government, we would expand the good relations between Iran and Pakistan which always has been friendly", Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi responded to the question of Iran press correspondent after his weekly press conference on Monday.

"He (Imran Khan) can form a strong government and Iran as a neighbouring country stands beside Pakistan and help this country as much as possible", Foreign Ministry Spokesman added.

"A good election has been held in Pakistan with widespread participation of people. Imran Khan have gained most of the votes but with the number of seats he has got he cannot form a government yet. But eventually he can form a government with small parties of Pakistan", Ghasemi added.

By congratulating again to the former Pakistani cricket star, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said: "I hope that Imran Khan can bring security, stability and economic growth for Pakistan people.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has secured the most number of seats in National Assembly of Pakistan, thus ready to form next government in the country.

Khan’s victory was reportedly denounced by many of his political rivals as being rigged and for receiving help from Pakistan’s powerful military.

Khan won the election despite having fallen short of an outright majority.
