Iran's member of the parliament has asked for more effective role of women in executive board of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

"Female parliamentarians should try more to gain the membership of presiding board of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and also other parliamentarians should back women in this path", a member of Iran's parliament Zahra Saeedi-Mobarakeh stated in an exclusive interview with Iran Press news agency.

"We wish for the best to come and we wish that women presence in parliament become more effective and their potentials come more into use", Saeedi-Mobarakeh added.

"Actually, the society expect that parliament back female parliamentarians more because women have had an major role for candidates to gain their sits in Islamic Consultative Assembly", she noted.

"Meanwhile, we respect the votes that have been casted for electing the members of presiding board of the Islamic Consultative Assembly", Saeedi-Mobarakeh concluded.

During an open session of the Parliament on Wednesday morning, the MPs voted to choose members of the Parliament’s Presiding Board.
