French FM says, Leaving JCPOA, Trump trampled the multilateralism and pushed for unilateralism.

Iran Press/Europe- Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French foreign affairs minister, said on Saturday, Donald Trump,  the president of the United States,is pushing for unilateralism instead of multilateralism by withdrawing from major international agreements such as  the nuclear deal with Iran (Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA))

Speaking to Euronews, Le Drian added the president of the United States has, started to dismantle all instruments and mechanisms of the multilateral approach. Trump has entered the White House with the slogan "America First", but now he has gone much further and says "Only America"  which means that  America  is now at loggerheads (in confrontation) with all countries,  and emphasises on  it's supremacy in all bilateral talks.

The French foreign minister added: "Trump started with withdrawal from the climate change agreement, followed by withdrawal from the Vienna agreement on Iran’s nuclear program."  Le Drian added: "He took America out of UNESCO, on the pretext  of human rights. But we must continue to negotiate."

Le Drian said Trump behaves  like a television personality and his  statements are provocative and that this situation will continue until he leaves office, and Europe has to change its rules to recreate the multilateralism including toward the U.S .

Criticising the latest U.S President's statements about Germany, Le Drian said the fates of Germany and France are intertwined and they should defend themselves  under the circumstances. Le Drian added: "In the current situation, the alliance between France and Germany and the strengthening of relations between them is vital. The two countries have become the only permanent pillars of the world, and perhaps a united Europe can be formed around this pillar.

Earlier, François Hollande, the former French president in a conversation with Radio Europe-1, criticized the US President's unilateral policies in many international situations,  calling him 'a real populist'.

Hollande said these days we are facing a strange category called Trump; He has caused global disorder and disagreement within Europe. His actions have weakened democracy since he took office, and that's why I believe we should not back down. We must stand firmly in the face of Trump's actions and behaviour.

Many European officials in recent months, have announced their opposition to the unilateral policies of the United States

Lately French prime minister,Bruno Lumer, was unhappy with the U.S.leaving the JCPOA ,stressed  Washington wants to be the global economic gendarme, and its not acceptable at all.

The president of the United States,  insisting on  the unfounded charges against Iran, announced the withdrawal of Washington from JCPOA  and the resumption of nuclear sanctions on Tuesday, May 8th  .

America's pullout  of the nuclear accord has prompted widespread criticisms worldwide, especially from the other signatory states. Britain, France, Russia, China, Germany and the European Union have all clearly shown their support for the JCPOA  .

Iran and Europe in recent weeks have begun talks to maintain  the deal following the withdrawal of the United States from this international agreement; Europe has pledged to offer a package of support to Tehran, to offset the impact of unilateral U.S. sanctions against Iran.
