Larijani honours the fallen soldiers of battle of Leningrad

Iran Press: The speaker of the Iranian parliament laid a wreath of flowers at a memorial monument in Moscow  honouring the fallen soldiers of the battle of Leningrad.

Before attending the Iran-Russia joint parliamentary commission meeting in Moscow on Thursday morning, Larijani laid a wreath and paid his respect to the fallen soldiers.

The epic and bloody battle of Leningrad was fought for more than 6 months in late 1942 and early 1943, and ultimately the Nazi Germans were defeated in what turned out to be 'a turning point' in the Second World War .

25 years after the battle, the former Soviet Union decided to build a memorial monument to all the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives in this costly battle.

In October 1967 , a memorial monument was unveiled in Moscow, honouring the fallen heroes of Leningrad. A war cemetery surrounds this monument.
