Iraqi commander say attack done from al-Tanf airport in Syria while Israelis says that they were behind the attack

Israel takes responsibility for an airstrike on the Syrian city of Boukamal near the Iraqi border which claimed left 18 people killed on Monday midnight, but Iraqi sources have another account of the attack.

Iran PressMiddle East: Israel has claimed a drone attack near Syria's border city of Boukamal with Iraq, targeting Iraqi forces and members of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.

The opposition-held Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the attack took place in the early hours of Monday when unnamed aircraft opened fire on alleged gatherings of Lebanese and Iraqi fighters in the Syrian city of Boukamal, east of Dayr al-Zawr province.

Syrian sources, including the state-run al-Ikhbariyah Syria television, confirmed that the attack had indeed targeted Iraqi and Lebanese forces.

Hours later, the Israeli military took responsibility, claiming that it had carried out the drone attack against forces allegedly attempting to fire rockets into Israel overnight.

The London-based SOHR, which is linked to foreign-backed militants in Syria, claimed that at least 18 people were killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, The deputy secretary-general of 'al- Abdal Movement', 'Kamal al-Hasnawi' revealed on Monday that "the air strikes took place at 12 p.m. and the planes were launched from Syrian al-Tanf base which occupied by American forces."

He went to say that "the shelling was inside Syrian territory because these factions are located inside the Syrian territory in coordination with the Syrian army and the Syrian government."

Hasnawi said that "the airstrike resulted in the death of six people, wounded about 18 others and destroyed some vehicles," adding that "the number of airstrikes against the factions was about six strikes."

Opening of Al-Qaim border crossing between Iraq and Syria was delayed due to the aerial bombardment that the Iraqi armed factions have faced in the Syrian Albu Kamal area.

The drone strike comes amid the Israeli regime's renewed campaign of aggression against several countries in the region including Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon.

On Monday morning Hezbollah shot down Israeli drone outside Ramyah, southern Lebanon while entering Lebanon.

Hezbollah added that drone was targeted while flying over Lebanon-Palestine border air space.
