The Ambassador of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi stated that relations between Tehran and Baku are progressing in all dimensions.

Iran Press/Asia: In his first press conference in Baku on Tuesday evening, Mousavi noted that the two countries’ relations have not been as deep and wide as today.

He called relations with neighbors as Iran's top priority, adding that Iran has particular respect for the Republic of Azerbaijan and much respect its independence, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Referring to the start of negotiations between Iran and Azerbaijan for the signing of a preferential trade agreement, Mousavi expressed that soon, along with officials from the two countries, the presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan will participate in a virtual meeting.

Regarding the relations of the two countries in the framework of regional interactions, the ambassador also noted that in addition to participating in local and international mechanisms and organizations, Tehran and Baku are also involved in multilateral mechanisms.

Stressing that the Republic of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty are very important for Iran, Mousavi said Iran is ready to help the two sides resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully.

The Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan also spoke about the normalization of relations between Israel and some Arab countries.

He said that Donald Trump wants to have a bargaining chip in the days leading to the US presidential election, but he cannot succeed.
