Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh

Tehran (IP) - Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh denied the allegations in a biased and targeted report published in a US media and said the Islamic Republic of Iran neither forgive nor forget the assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani.

Iran PressIran News: Saeed Khatibzadeh suggested that the US officials prevent worn-out tricks to create an anti-Iranian atmosphere on the international stage.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman stated, "The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible member of the international community, has demonstrated its continued adherence to the principles and customs of international diplomacy."

“In contrast, the United States and the current regime in the White House, especially in recent years, with numerous acts outside of internationally accepted norms, including the design of dozens of assassination plans and military and intelligence interventions, withdrawal from numerous international agreements, undermine the territorial integrity of the countries and the cowardly assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani -the glorious commander of the fight against terrorism- have shown their disregard for basic diplomatic principles and have become a rebellious regime in the international arena,” he added.

Khatibzadeh further noted, "Such baseless statements are part of the Trump administration's counter-intelligence campaign against Iran. The US regime's reliance on anti-Iranian accusations and lies on the eve of the US presidential election and at the same time as its pressure to misuse the UN Security Council mechanisms to increase pressure on the Iranian people was predictable. These actions, which are likely to continue in the future, will certainly be fruitless and add to Washington's long list of failures against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

In the end, the spokesman emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as it has repeatedly stated, will continue to pursue the criminal and cowardly assassination of General Soleimani internationally and legally at all levels and will neither forgive nor forget this terrorist act.

The US media "Politico" claimed that Iran is plotting to assassinate the US ambassador to South Africa, citing US intelligence reports and officials close to the government.

Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC's Quds Force, who had arrived in Iraq on January 3 at the official invitation of Iraqi officials, along with Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, deputy head of the Iraqi People's Basij (al-Hashd al-Shabi), and eight others have been martyred in an airstrike orchestrated by the American aggressor.
